So who’s been watching the very binge-able Netflix series ‘Indian Matchmaking’?!
I have and am finding it engrossing for so many reasons! Please no spoilers as I’m only on episode 5!
It’s been fascinating to watch the traditions that have endured the test of time and ideas and mindsets that are well past their sell-by dates.
Of course, there are many things in this programme that apply to the Indian community but I am also seeing so many things that are pervasive, regardless of culture, when thinking about dating, romance and relationships.
– The pursuit of a relationship to prevent loneliness and at the exemption of creating the ability to revel in ones own company and life
– Feeling that being in a relationship is the answer to living a happy life
– Trying to create a relationship with a list of wants without knowing why these things may or may not be important
– And of course, something so many single people hear time and again, that if you’re single it’s because “you’re too picky” or there must be something wrong with you
I’m so excited to have been invited by Jane Chelliah of Amibitous Mamas to explore some of these topics and discuss the docuseries that has grabbed the attention of so many.
We’re going to be chatting about all things dating and relationships and taking a look at this in relation to the South Asian community too.
